Working from home may be new to a lot of people so it can be difficult to make a clear distinction of a work space versus your home space. Here’s a few things you can do to make your daily life just a little easier.

1

Have a morning routine

Kick start your morning on your journal

It can be anything, from doing some morning stretches, taking a nice warm shower, to making that morning coffee or tea. It wakes you up and is a great way to set yourself up mentally and physically for the rest of the day.

Although it’s tempting to just get out of bed and jump straight to working on the computer, we can assure you that it’s ten times better to create a little ritual for yourself and then get cracking.

2

Wear the right clothes

In the comfort of your own home, it’s very likely you’re not going to dress up for work. However, if you wear clothes that are too comfortable, you’d eventually feel sluggish.

So, the trick is to wear clothes that are just slightly uncomfortable to remind yourself that you’re not ‘at home’ but is ‘at work’. For some, putting on makeup works too! The buffer time it takes to do these tasks allows yourself to get ready for the day.

3

Create a Work-space

A tidy work space makes for a productive one

If you have the space, it’s a good idea to create a separate area just for work. Some people have an office at home, but anywhere would do as long as it’s away from comfortable spaces like your bedroom.

If there’s no such space, sitting away from your pillow or using a laptop stand works too. It can be more productive that way, and having a separate space creates a distinction of work from home.

4

Hydrate and Stretch

Use our stickers to make it easier for you

When we get into the zone, it’s easy to forget about the world and everything around you but it’s important to make conscious decisions that are good for you. So make sure to stay hydrated!

One tip is to drink water from a smaller glass or bottle so that you would have to get up for refills. This also helps get those stretches in between to keep your muscles moving.

5

Be Your Own Boss

Our planner comes with a habit tracker

When working from home, getting distracted is almost a certainty so we must have the right discipline to keep us from doing so!

Although it’s tempting to just scroll the hours away on your phone, remember that unless it’s independent work, most jobs require you to work with a team, so pull your weight and contribute!

6

Unwind After Work

It's good to take time to ground yourself

Everything so far is about preparing you for work but what about after? Unwinding properly is just as important as hyping yourself for work.

So go ahead, grab your journal and unload your thoughts. Take a long shower, make a cup of tea, relax and listen to some tunes. Only after a good unwind can you gear up again!

7

Get a Goodnight Sleep

A goodnight sleep changes everything

Time can get a bit wonky when you are in one space for too long. Without the commute or going out of the house, it’s almost like time is at a stand still.

So make sure to track your work hours and plan for a good night’s sleep. You don’t want to be looking up from your screen and realise it’s way past your bedtime!

In general, we should all just make the best with what we have despite our circumstances. It can be a difficult process but it is not impossible! We hope that these 7 tips will come in handy regardless.
